down a flattened dirt road somewhere outside of yellowstone, wyoming, the worn out tires on your old truck come to an abrupt, gravely stop. out of the corner of your eye, a white blur streaks through the underbrush, another following closely behind. as you turn to look, one of the figures slides across the dust in a crouch, dark hair whipping around her face. your eyes slowly slide back to the road; her inhuman speed, bright red eyes... not an uncommon sight around here...

the various classrooms, restrooms, and locker-lined hallways that make up timberwood high school. with more empty rooms than can be put to use by school administration, some are left for storage or simply sit gathering dust. teachers rarely bother to check these areas for unexcused students, making them a perfect place to avoid classes.
about half the size of a football field, the tiny gym has just enough space for a single full basketball court and can barely sit approximately half of the student body comfortably with bleachers. though apart from classes, it generally goes unused during warmer months.
being the center of the school and first thing noticed from the main entrance, the commons mostly serve as the lunch room. all main hallways end up or start here, administrative offices are also accessible from this area.
as the narrow-stalled space surrounding timberwood high school, you might expect to see it filled to the curb. this is true. teachers and faculty get the first rows, everything else is left to students, who park from the gym doors all the way out onto the main road some days. you can also claim your character's ride in the sticky here.
among dusty shelves and torn bindings lies the one promising get away from the real world: the library. the reading selection might not be the latest and greatest, but there's still the classics at the very least. shakespeare, dickens, twain, austen, verne, tolstoy, they're all here.
the only functional medical facility until cheyenne, northslope is probably your best chance of surviving a bear attack or snowmobiling accident. the equipment isn't exactly state-of-the-art, but it'll have to do until the air-lift helicopter shows up.
every paved or dirt road in and around timberwood. the system runs on an organized grid of sorts in town, improving accessibility and saving time. outside of town, the unpaved roads wind in and out of wooded areas, fading into four-wheeler paths and eventually hiking trails after so long.
recently, there has been a spike in the interest and activity at the alley. this could possibly be due to the new manager who gave the place a complete overhaul. with the replacement of all the furniture, lighting, flooring, and equipment, the place looks good as new. however, since the new management came in, the lanes don't even open until near-sunset. how peculiar.
your run of the mill mall, albeit a bit smaller than what you may find in a larger city. nestled cozily beside the lake, it has a food court, a few name-brand stores such as hollister, and most importantly: kiddie rides.
a favorite diner among locals, sam's shakes at one point brought back the feel of the 1950s with its checkerboard linoleum flooring, red bar stools, and summertime car hops. recently, it's been updated to suit more of a small town "cafe" feel. although the appearance may have changed, the food sure hasn't. sam's is said to make the best burgers and shakes in the state.
the small community center, which is just down the road from the bowling lanes, right at the edge of town. there's a swimming pool, a basketball court, and a rec room. it becomes increasingly popular as winter approaches, since the freezing temperatures outside tend to confine people indoors.
this housing development, which runs along either side of kasity river to the east, is where most of timberwood's citizens and their families reside. it's a nice area, and the homes are top quality and private, right among the trees. however, as its popularity increases, there's been talk that aspen creek could break away from timberwood as its own separate town.

home to the past six generations of the collison family, this victorian mansion is both a historical site and inherited property of an eighteen year-old recluse. the house itself is very well cared for, having been remodled on more than one occasion within the last hundred or so years. located on the north-western side of the lake, it's fairly private and hidden by trees, and although the public is free to visit, no one seems interested in taking a step past the wrought iron gate at the driveway.
here, you have your swingsets, slides, monkeybars...the park basics. lying between a pleasant stretch of the lake and vast forest, it offers a charming wooden boardwalk for dads to fish from, and a few benches for moms to read their novels. the kids are free to run around and scrape their knees and elbows without a care in the world. well, of course, that's during the day... the noctournal crowd aren't usually interested in family-oriented activities.
after years of water runoff from the mountains, timberwood lake eventually formed at the lowest point in the valley: right below the western mountains. this lake has been classified as oligotrophic for its low nutrient content, which results in a low species diversity. trout is abdundant, however. and although it's freezing, its clear and algae-free water makes for great swimming conditions.
since its opening in 1973 by the collison family, the spotted elk lodge has been putting nearly every other hotel in town out of business. this is mostly accredited toward its low nightly prices, and la petite foręt, which is the attached retaurant. there's also the view; the lake's beautiful at sunset, though not necessarily safe.
the teton peaks that make up timberwood's valley, which vary anywhere from 2,000 to 9,000 feet above their base. this is what the teton mountain range is best known for; sudden and steep elevation. the mountains here have been divided into three separate areas: north, east, and west.
every province, city, town, and territory in the continental united states. this would also include other regions of wyoming, such as jackson hole or cheyenne. don't forget to state exactly where your thread's taking place, you're sort of missing the point otherwise.
